PE & Sporting Provision

Our children have the opportunity to be involved with both intra and inter-school competitions playing hockey, netball, cricket, tag rugby, football, Dodgeball, and tennis. They also participate in Sports Hall Athletics, Dance, Cross country, Rounders, Multi-skills and Gymnastics. Children in KS2 also receive swimming lessons.

In addition to the above, we also provide opportunities to participate in activities such as wheelchair basketball and climbing.

Pupils across the school also learn about the importance of physical activity as part of developing healthy lifestyles. The partner work we do with Sports Trek and Freddy Fit help to ensure this important message is embedded.

Year 4 Quicksticks Hockey

On 6/12/19 we had two Year 4 teams enter the Maryport Quicksticks Hockey tournament held at Ewanrigg School. In the group stages, team 1 won 2 games and lost one, whilst team 2 won 2 and drew 1. Both teams finished top of their groups and went through to the semi-final.

Team 1 played really well but unfortunately lost their semi final match. Team 2 also played well and at full time the score was 1-1. This meant the match went to ‘sudden death’, the first team to score were through to the final………… and they did it!

The final, against Our Lady and St Patrick’s was very close and ended with penalties. Despite playing so well, we unfortunately did not win but may still have secured a place in the Allerdale final next term.
