Welcome to Rowan Class (Year2).  During this year we are building on the foundations of previous knowledge and experiences and learning lots of new things.  In English we use quality texts to support our learning and enjoy exploring them in detail and using them as inspiration for our own writing.  We follow the White Rose mastery approach to maths and every child in our class is a super mathematician!

Even though we have lots of hard work to do we also have a great deal of fun.  We enjoy using the outdoors and going on educational visits to support our learning.  Throughout the year we have specialist teachers for music and many different sports activities.

It is very important to us that our children have a stimulating, safe learning environment where they feel happy and secure to learn and play.  Our school Christian values help us to ensure that we are a kind and caring class who take care of each other.  This enables our children to have every opportunity to Learn, Achieve and Shine in YR2.

Our visit to Carlisle Castle

As part of our history topic, we visited Carlisle to explore the castle. We found out all about the different parts of a castle as well as the history of it and why it was so important to defend the city.

Year 2 have been making the most of our new playground markings and have been using the giant outdoor 100 square to find out all about number properties.

On 12/12/19, Lynn and Susan from NISCU came to talk to the children about the creation story and then we all got the opportunity to make a picture about our world and what was special to us.
