Welcome to Willow class, (Nursery) at Maryport Church of England Primary School. Nursery is the beginning of each child’s exciting learning journey. Here, we provide a rich learning environment which allows each child to express their own interests, needs and to learn in their preferred style. We believe that children learn through playing and exploring. Our play based curriculum is responsive to children’s needs and interests, alongside high level interactions with adults and planned, playful experiences to inspire the children’s natural curiosity, understanding and development. During the day there are 2/3 carpet sessions which include early literacy activities, activities to support communication and language skills, along with maths based activities. We ensure that each child feels happy, safe and secure in an environment that supports them to develop into kind, creative and independent learners. We hope that everyone enjoys their time with us in Nursery and we look forward to watching them continue to flourish and grow throughout their time in the Foundation Stage.

WORLD BOOK DAY MARCH 2020
On World Book Day, Nursery had lots of fun retelling traditional tales by dressing up and using the puppets. Can you spot Little Red Riding Hood?
OUR TRIP TO THE BUS DEPOT
As part of our learning about transport we went on an exciting visit to the Stagecoach bus depot at Lillyhall. We travelled there on a double decker, calling at the bus station on the way. At the depot, we all took turns to be the driver - sitting in the driver's seat, hooting the horn and issuing tickets. We also learned how to get on and off the bus safely and even got to ring the bell. We saw all the different types of buses and Andrew and Wayne showed us the garage where the buses get fixed. At the end of the visit we got to sit on the bus while it went through the bus wash - it was very exciting!!
The Nursery children were asked to complete a special job for the Elves. They have been threading some shoes for the shoemaker!
Our Nursery children have been learning how to wash their hands properly to remove all the dirt and germs.
Nursery have been completing a 'Poppy challenge'!
How fantastic are our observational drawings/paintings?
