Heads Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website. Maryport Church of England Primary is a happy school where pupils feel safe, secure and enjoy their learning. Our motto is 'learn, achieve, shine' which we promote with all of our children every day.We are a school at the heart of the local community with strong links to St Mary’s Church and many community groups around the town.

During their time at our school, all children will receive an education that will enable them to achieve their academic potential but will also have the opportunity to extend their learning through participation in forest school sessions, the arts, a wide range of sports and residential visits.

Vision, Aims & Values

At Maryport Church of England Primary School, our vision is to 'teach children to choose the right path and when they are older they will remain on it' -Proverbs 22:6 . We live out or vision by 'Teaching children to remain on the right path...'. We strive to develop character for our children to become good global citizens. We create a happy, safe, successful learning environment which will clearly reflect Christian values enabling our pupils to develop their unique potential and a love a of learning which promotes aspirations and prepares them well to live life in all its fullness.

Our Faith Community

We enjoy close links with our church, St Mary's and the wider faith community. We are blessed to have clergy-led worship every Thursday morning and we welcome Archdeacon Richard Pratt into school on a regular basis too. We also enjoy members of the church community and Yvette Ladds and Lynn Graham (Solway Network Youth Church) also join us for prayer space reflections, well-being groups and after school groups. Throughout the year, we visit St Mary's Church to hold services where we welcome family members and encourage the wider community to join us in our worship.

Forest School

Forest School is a long-term approach to education, for children, young people, families and adults, that maximises the benefits of learning in the outdoors.  Whilst its roots are planted firmly in the best understanding of the theory of how children learn, its practice puts the learner at the heart of their learning experience.

Forest School offers children and young people the opportunity, over repeated visits, to engage with the rich natural diversity of the natural environment to help build confidence, sensitivity, resilience and curiosity.
